Dick Nelson passed away today. 

Dick built our ship, the America’s Finest.  We and those who follow in our footsteps will always owe him incalculable gratitude for that.  Those of us who worked with him the 4 years we spent building the ship will carry fond memories of working with one of the greatest shipbuilders in the United States. 

Dick was a truly great man.  Thousands of men and women, including 48 of our own, sail the oceans every day in safety because Dick built the best ships in the world. 

Dick will live on in his family and the great ships he built- America’s Finest, Blue North, Coastal Standard, Neal Armstrong, Sally Ride, Starbound, and many more.
