The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce held its 88th Annual Awards Luncheon on December 7, 2023, at the beautiful Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa. The event, sponsored by Evergreen Health, The Port of Seattle, Google, and Waste Management was in honor of those who have given back to our community.

The Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial held its 34th annual Benefit Dinner, Live Auction, and Silent Auction on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Chinooks at Salmon Bay.

I am very grateful for the opportunities the company has awarded me and my family throughout the years -- I want to say thank you to Ms. Park -- the last 22 years have been amazing and I look forward to many more to come.

As part of the month-long celebration, Fishermen’s Finest and the Port of Seattle visited with Chef Tom Douglas, and his daughter Loretta, at his beautiful Hot Stove Society cooking school on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

After a 3-year hiatus due to the Pandemic, The annual Fishermen's Fall Festival returned to Fishermen’s Terminal on Saturday, September 30th. 

“The project has a lot of potential to help us unite what fishermen see on the water every day with what scientists see during their annual survey snapshots. It will fill in important gaps in the data for areas that the surveys are missing,” says Captain Bob Hezel. “The new information will help improve rockfish estimates and support more sustainable fisheries.”

The Wild Alaska Sole Association (WASA) held a Flatfish Luncheon on August 17th at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) International Marketing Committee meeting at Glacier Fish Company’s office at Terminal 91 (Port of Seattle).  

Seafood produced by bottom trawling can have a lower environmental impact than chicken or pork, according to a new review paper accepted by the ICES Journal of Marine Science July 4, 2023.

On Monday, July 24th at Echo Falls Golf Club, the Kirkland Chamber hosted the 29th Annual Peter Kirk Golf Classic. Congratulations to our insurance broker, Brandon Stone from Parker Smith and Feek and team PSF for winning the annual tournament.

We celebrated James Kinsey and his 10 years of service to Fishermen’s Finest today, July 12, 2023 at our Kirkland Headquarters

Circling back to recognize our long-time employee Bret Henry for 20 years of service to Fishermen’s Finest. Bret was recognized by Ms. Park at our Kirkland Headquarters today and gifted his 20-year Rolex Date Just Submariner watch, a couple of years delayed (he has worked here for 22 years now and we have been on a waiting list through the pandemic and the Rolexes continue to be in high demand and difficult to source).

Each year, the Seattle Fishermen's Memorial hosts a Fishermen's Safety Fair to teach fishermen practical skills to save their boats and their lives. Together with our trainers and sponsors, we hope to promote and educate fishermen on the importance of safety. On Wednesday, May 24th, we had a great turn-out in Fishermen’s Terminal.

On National Maritime Day, we honor the thousands of dedicated merchant mariners who serve on United States vessels around the world.  During times of both peace and war, merchant mariners are always there — stepping up to transport equipment, troops, and goods across the globe to make our country safer and stronger

On Thursday, May 11th, Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho was the featured guest at the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce business luncheon at the Heathman Hotel.

Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial Annual Dedication - May 7, 2023. Each year, on the first Sunday in May, the Seattle fishing community gathers in Fishermen’s Terminal to remember those that have gone before us. During our dedication, we acknowledge those that have had tiles installed (industry-related loss) or have been added to the Memorial Wall (lost at sea).

Good people are the key to our success. On Friday, April 28th, we celebrated Aleksandr Grishchuk, for 10 years of service aboard the American No.1 and America’s Finest. Ms. Park awarded him with an Omega Seamaster “James Bond” gift.
